Brantford Powerlifting Competition
James Walker rocked today in Brantford at the Special Olympics Ontario Powerlifting
Competition. He weighed in at a trim 22 pounds less than he weighed in at the
previous May 2009 competition. These are photos of Jamie lifting 135 kgs (300
lbs) in the squat lift which earned him a gold medal in his weight category.
James was the only entry from London. He was also selected as the male athlete
for powerlifting of the tournament.
James shattered his previous best lifts by 5 kilograms (11 pounds) in each of his 3 lifts in the squat lift, the bench press and the dead lift. In the deal lift, James lifted an amazing 190 kgs (407 lbs). The bar was definitely bending today.
In the 110 kg and under weight class, James won 2 gold and 1 silver medals in the three lifts plus was awarded the Best Male Lifter plaque for the tournament.
I also have some short movies of Jamie in his lifts which are really amazing, especially the dead lift where the bar is really bending.
Many thanks to Coach Ivan Williamson and the cheerleading crew
who have supported James through his intensive training these last several months.
