Special Olympics London volunteers on their way to Beijing!

Two of our own volunteers with the London Basketball program have qualified to attend the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing China beginning the 8th of August. Sabrina Kolker or Burnaby Lake, West Vancouver and Zoe Hoskins of Edmonton Alberta will be rowing for Canada in the Women's Pair.

Zoe sent this along to me and I would like to share with all of the London Special Olympics Family.

Hi Bill,
I just wanted to send a quick update of my own. I wanted to let you know that (my fellow Basketball Volunteer) Sabrina Kolker and myself have been selected to compete at the Olympic Games in Beijing next month in the Women's Pair rowing event.

Coaching Basketball for Special Olympics London over the last two years has given us inspiration during our own training and competition- hopefully as Canadian Olympians we can give a little inspiration back to those athletes we hung out each week with at Eagle Heights!

Sadly, after this summer we will both be moving out to BC. I am hoping to begin volunteering with Special Olympics Victoria as soon as I can, and I will keep my great experience coaching Basketball (and curling!) here in London with me.
